Rains, Glorious rains!

I am so lazy that instead of going outdoors I captured the rainfall from my verandah!

  1. good afternoon rmbhai,
rain always reminds of me of childhood days...when we cant go outside for play..and have to be content with sitting inside looking outside.

  2. also..how life changed after coming of cable tv...mom had to literally push us out to play...i being biggest lazy bones of them all...

Good afternoon! How is weather in your part of Karnataka?

Yeah! Rainy days were full of boredom in the childhood. The only good thing was the occasional school holiday due to rains but that was hardly once in the whole season in Dehradun - it used to rain so much here that only a cloudburst could get us a holiday!

  4. good evening rmbhai,
in mangalore, rain has stopped from 2 days..but before..it was raining..i thought finally my dream owning a yatch by homeside was coming true...lo behold...rain stopped suddenly...looks like operators at work again just like mkt..playing with jaggu :( :)

  5. oops..i ate my words.. its .it was raining heavily cats and dogs running for cover..

here too we used to get holidays in school if there was heavy rains...funniest part was..we wud know it was holiday after reaching school...and kids will return to homes only in evening after rain had stopped...

  6. Here also the same thing happened, rainy day was announced only when we reached the school but that added to the fun. Ours was a 3 km walk to the school and we had to cross a seasonal river (now it has become a dirty nallah.) Invariably when ever the schools declared holiday the river used to get swollen making it impossible to cross on feet on the way back home - more fun - we crossed the river on trucks loaded with stones (only heavily loaded trucks could cross the river)!

  7. yes,tat y i like hill station(for weather) but always i get bored easily after while..so wat vast expanse of water i good for me atleast..hoping someday i get the message(stamped Visa) in a bottle from Arab/gulf country.

i remember one gets...huge round beautiful stones near base of himalayas(which now people use it as therapeutic value)..we too bought huge amount of them in my childhood...now they are used paper weight and weights on top of utensils..HAA HAA...

    ReplyDelete
  8. since they have beautiful colors on them...i lost most of the stones...few of them are worth 15-20 years journey they survived till now.. :)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yeah! There are a lot of rounded stones lying around on the banks of most rivers here but we hardly notice that. Instead we gather sea shells when we go down south! I remember my folks buying all kind of things made from sea shells on their trip to Kanya Kumari and Rameshwaram. Since those shells were not properly cleaned they used to stink a lot in Dehradun's humid weather!

  10. good mrng rmbhai,
    yeah,u r right,
we too had huge collection of sea shells, those sea shells which we buy from roadside stink a lot...we threw most of them over time...since they get discolored becoz of temperature and other elements...

only few of them properly cleaned still remains proud in our showcase reminding us abt journeys to wonderful temple towns(madurai..here silk sarees as memento, rameswaram and kanyakumari)...LOL

  12. I've loved the extended rainy season in Pune...but the dam is still only 55% full.

    ReplyDelete
  13. That is the advantage we have got in Dehradun. When it rains here the dams get filled and overflow in UP, Bihar and West Bengal!

  15. rm, the brahmakamals blossomed again, several of them. it was beautiful. what about yours?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Here they blossomed in august & early septemeber. We got two installments of more than half a dozen flowers!

    ReplyDelete
  17. lovely! We had another burst to bloom just a few days ago

    ReplyDelete
  18. Wow! They blossom for just one night but that night is just theirs. The fragrance is good enough to launch a perfume brand, shall we call it fbk (false brahm-kamal)?!

    ReplyDelete
  19. yep we can call it that! sorry for late reply rm.

  28. Sorry, late request, we had some last week. Next time, I'll make sure that some of the cloud are diverted to Pune. :)

  29. if it is out of your window [the realone] it would be neighbours [our] envy owners pride ...
so green, so hazy, so cool looking, and the rain ...

That one was taken from the verandah of my BIL's govt. accomodation. Now he has built his own house which is even better though the greenery part is missing. But that is more than made up by the view of hills all around.

    ReplyDelete
  31. green are missing in doon, then its climate change for sure, pachuri or otherwise ...
    :)
lovely place, we the cityites can only see in tv or your blog

and, matching great blog too. now we got another platform set on natures showroom.

    Enjoy your trip to Himalayas!

  34. RM, whats happening up above, !!!
The greens are becoming brownie points ...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sorry, I did'nt get the meaning of above remark?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I just saw some photos of Almora site, and was surprised to see less less green, and more brown patches,
    kind of shocking ...

    ReplyDelete
  37. That may be because of the season, the hills do turn brown during summers.
But I have not seen the blog lately, Prashant may have added new pages.

    ReplyDelete
  38. so, our hills remain fresh as it used to be ....
    then fine...
coz, one look it was a bit shocking.
we on the plains think up our northern hills like what we see europe landscape [weather and lushness], thats why.

  42. hei, RM, think you have Unsubscribed to Comments here are something ...!
    :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hi mok
Except for this last comment which came on a sunday, all the other comments i thought were from OJN! They appeared amidst a shower of messages from OJN. :)
I hope you had good sleep over the weekend. Have a great time.

    ReplyDelete
  44. ahh ,, good ..
    thought by mistake you unsubscribed
    :)

Is it possible to get the background to comments changed from person to person - like set of people allotted a different bg color ?

howz the bg frame done ? [i dont know the procedure]

    ReplyDelete
  45. I learnt that from googling! And don't remember the procedure, just kept the page in front of me and carried out the modifications one by one!
No you can't make the background in different color for everyone. You can pick different background only for the owner (i guess they call it author) and all other (commoner's) will have one. Feudalism at its best. :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. here is one link:
    http://www.best2know.info/2010/06/highlight-author-comment-in-blogspot.html

    ReplyDelete
  47. I suppose you were certified right, GoogleXpert :)

We got many authors unlike other blogs ... so each may be eligible for their own background [as if they dont have any now, is another issue :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. You are right! We don't have any common man or woman. :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. so it may work,
to each in his own color
    like rangoli :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. RM,
    i checked the box colors,
it will work only for that post's author.
meaning the no no to commoners.
so did not proceed on that.

    ReplyDelete
  51. @mok
But that makes sense. Only an author is supposed to be able to explain his/her post to the commoners, so only the post's author's comments need to stand out in a multi-author blog.

    ReplyDelete
  52. truji, gruji,
but i thought though one cheeky one creates the comments post,
the rainbow authors can have rainbow bg i thought :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. @mok
The idea was good, rainbow blogs in monsoon season!
Do you jump straight to PC from bed?
    :))
