Happy Forests

Dehradun hills seem to be made of very porous material. Whenever we have plenty of rains, the hills begin handing it out in the form of little streams springing up everywhere. This one is called 'Nalapani' and is a source of fresh water throughout the year, unfortunately the stream is captured at the source and confined to a water tank except for monsoons when no one can keep it imprisoned.

Here it is enjoying its new found freedom and eager to meet the mighty Ganges, where all streams and rivulets draining the east side of Dehradun end up.

  1. goodmrng rakeshbhai,
correct said,in monsoon nobody needs precious commodity called water...

everybody wants when there is scarcity not when there is excess supply...

wat a irony of life :(

  5. Hi mok!

That standard terminology of addressing each other is borrowed from vfmdirect (it sure makes us all sound like mumbai's dons.) :)

Rains have stopped now and the weather has turned out to be even better. Bright sunshine and cold mornings - one has to wear a windcheater on the bike. This rivulet has very little water left now, would be dry by the end of this month.

The surroundings are real good here, they make up for the lack of opportunities in a small city (small by Indian standards, many countries participating in CWG are one tenth of the size of Dehradun by population!)

  6. wow, such a lovely shot. Pity I've been writing my idiotic novels instead of taking a vacation to Dehradun! One of you guys will have to come to Pune! My lease runs out in Nov hope the stupid landlord extends it. I have a guest room here and can show you the city!

  7. Why, what happened to your plans of building a house at no. 666?

I would come running to Pune (Nobody invites an unemployed guy these days!), only problem is that you may get saddled with a guest worst than the landlord. :))

  15. Thanks mokbhai(!!!) and mynac. Wishing you a Very Happy, Prosperous (stinking rich!) new year!

Hope you guys will invite me on your next holidays in Hawaii (remember I have a principle of not accepting any invitation unless accompanied by a return business class air-ticket - I have never heard of the maxim "beggars are not choosers"!)

    :))

  16. Dear r m,
We are deciding our first get together in this year for planning for the same.Just got your "return business class air-ticket"wish cum request cum demand cum order :)),so I will strongly put it on table.Last time also the "business class air-ticket" was the hot topic(& not the destination) & became a moot point later & so only the entire trip was postponed but this time as you are with me I am going to put it on strongly.:))

Have a joyful, laughing year along with prosperity.

    with regards.

  17. Dear mynac

Journey is always more important than the destination, that is why life is so much more interesting than death (which is merely the expiry of a contract!)
    :))

    Warm regards.
